How To Update Messages App On Mac

Make Sure the Mac has an Internet Connection. IMessage and Messages requires an internet. I've set up iMessage on my iPhone correctly (apple id) with Messages on my Mac (OSX Mountain Lion), and it syncs. But the syncing isn't flawless. Everytime I wake up my Mac after hibernation, it won't update my messages. I first have to restart the app a few times, to get all my messages. Sometimes even the order of the messages isn't correct. Several apps for iPhone and iPad with some updates have made it to the Mac OS as well in the recent past. Some of these apps include Maps, Messages, Notes, Photos, and iBooks. Amongst all, the Messages app has been one of the greatest updates so far as it lets you send and receive text messages on a Mac system without even taking out your phone.

Update Office from the Mac App Store. If you downloaded Office from the Mac App Store, and have automatic updates turned on, your apps will update automatically. But you can also manually download the updates: Open the Mac App Store from your Dock or Finder.

Use Software Update

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu , then click Software Update to check for updates.
  2. If any updates are available, click the Update Now button to install them. Or click “More info” to see details about each update and select specific updates to install. You might be asked to enter your administrator password.
  3. When Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, the installed version of macOS and all of its apps are also up to date. That includes Safari, Music, Photos, Books, Messages, Mail, Calendar, and FaceTime.
  4. To automatically install future updates, including for apps that you got from the App Store, select “Automatically keep my Mac up to date.” Your Mac will notify you when updates require it to restart, so you can always choose to install those later.
