Whether you use your D-Link Wi-Fi Camera to make sure Fido stays off the bed while you’re at work or that little Johnny isn’t climbing out of the crib (his new favorite trick), the motion detection feature can definitely come in handy. By setting up motion detection you can not only receive email alerts to notify you of movement but you can actually select certain areas in the camera’s view. By specifying a certain area of the camera’s view, like the door or crib, it makes it so you only receive alerts when motion is detected in that area, rather than getting notifications for every single movement the camera captures, like every time the nanny walks by. You can also specify the sensitivity of the detection so if you’re away on vacation you can bump it up to notify you of any movement, if there’s a fly in the house you’ll know (just kidding)! Another easy feature is the ability to set up a schedule for alerts, rather than continually needing to turn it on and off just schedule it for the times you want. For directions on how to easily set up all of your motion detection features read below!

Tap Motion Settings from the list of options at the bottom of the app. Tap Motion Zones. Tap the Motion Zone you would like to disable. Follow the prompts in the Ring app to Save the setting. To re-enable a motion go to the Motion Settings and tap on a zone to activate it again. Then, follow the prompts to save the change. Please note the device must be still to detect motion and take photos. To stop detecting motion simply pick up the device. We recommend plugging your device into a power source for prolonged use. Features - Advanced motion detection with a single user defined parameter for tolerance (10 - 20 works well for most uses) Live feed to your desktop. This way the canvas does not take a huge part of the screen, if you want to display the photo taken you can return the image object to another DIV after saving it through AJAX call. The only problem is that you have to know your camera’s capabilities, because you can’t adjust the canvas size according to the camera’s capability.

In the Photos app on your Mac, click People in the sidebar. Do one of the following: Control-click the person, then choose Remove This Person. Click Remove from People Album. Double-click the person, then scroll down and click Remove from People Album. To delete a photo from your library, see Delete photos or recover deleted ones in Photos on Mac. Whether you use your D-Link Wi-Fi Camera to make sure Fido stays off the bed while you’re at work or that little Johnny isn’t climbing out of the crib (his new favorite trick), the motion detection feature can definitely come in handy. By setting up motion detection you can not only receive email alerts to notify you of movement but you can actually select certain areas in the camera’s.

Start by opening your web browser and entering the IP Address of your camera. Log in using the User Name and Password you first chose when setting up the camera. From there follow these instructions:
1) Once you’ve logged into the camera interface click the Setup tab towards the top of the page. Under Setup is where you can manage image setup, SD recording, brightness and email settings to name a few.
2) On the left hand side click on Motion Detection, start by selecting Enable.
3) Next you’ll want to identify a schedule, the Time area allows you to either choose to always receive motion alerts or only during specific hours on specific days.
4) Under Sensitivity enter a percentage; this number specifies the amount of motion in the window being monitored that is required to initiate an alert. The higher the number the easier the motions will be detected.
5) And finally at the bottom of the page you will see the camera feed with a grid laid over it. Here is where you specify the area you would like alerts on, whether you want the whole room or just the window or door, simply click to select and unselect the areas.

The tamper switch inside the motion sensor is used to prevent tampering with the senor and the alarm.

If the alarm is active and someone tries to open the sensor and deactivate it the button will be released and it will trigger the alarm.

If the system is not armed and you push that button nothing will happen.

Why is it not recommended to set the triggering time of the motion sensors to be instant ?

It is not recommended to change the triggering time of the motion sensor to instant because it could increase the number of false alarms, considering that the alarm can be deactivated only from outside of the house using either the mobile app or the key fob.

In other words, if the trigger would be instant then there would not be enough time to access one of those to deactivate the alarm and once inside the alarm would go off, hence creating a false alarm.
